Review these helpful reference guides and safety information containing information on splinting principles, cutting, cleaning, and precautions. The SAM Splint is flexible, and it comes in various sizes to suit different injuries. These training videos will instruct you how to apply a splint to both the upper and lower extremities.
Select the appropriate size of SAM Splint according to the size of the patient's arm and wrist. Create a "C-Curve" in which the wrist and forearm can rest.
Using YOUR arm as the template, mold SAM Splint to the Ulnar or "Little Finger" side of your hand, wrist and forearm to achieve the desired shape.
Apply SAM Splint to the patient's arm and wrist.
Make fine adjustments and secure SAM Splint with wrap of choice.
